Page title[edit]

To follow up on a usability problem with the previous title brought up on Village pump (Commons:Village_pump#Usability_issues_and_ideas), I move this to Commons:Prototype upload wizard feedback. --  Docu  at 16:12, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Valid license tag not accepted[edit]

Upload Wizard did not accept {{PD-textlogo}} as a licensing tag and kept returning an error message, although the preview was good. Please fix this ASAP. Fleet Command (talk) 05:53, 20 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What was the error message? John Vandenberg (chat) 06:07, 20 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
"This does not seem to be valid wikitext, or does not contain a license."
Fleet Command (talk) 19:41, 20 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just tested it myself. It's obviously case-sensitive. {{PD-textlogo}} works; {{Pd-textlogo}} (a redirect) does not. LX (talk, contribs) 20:17, 20 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Does anyone even look at this page anymore?[edit]

-mattbuck (Talk) 06:52, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I just got my question answered.... so I'm guessing yes. However, I see a lot of non-english questions remain unanswered though, so that's one glaring issue. Dainomite (talk) 07:00, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's on my watchlist, and based on reverts of test edits without feedback, I'm not the only one watching it. I guess the relevant question is if any developers who are actually able to do anything about reported problems look at the page. LX (talk, contribs) 15:25, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've changed the declaration at the top to a slightly more truthful one. If you're reading this and you're a developer who plans on actually dealing with and responding to feedback left here, please revert me. LX (talk, contribs) 19:30, 16 August 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
These issues are being looked at the coming 3 months by the multimedia developers. Several patches are under consideration in Gerrit right now, but as you note, it is VERY broken, which also makes it very difficult to know for sure if a change is making something better or worse. Note that users won't see the header before posting; messages are added from Special:UploadWizard itself via mediawiki.feedback.js dialog. --Nemo 15:39, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

So where does one get the attention of developers, except at Phabricator? I wrote at Commons talk:Upload Wizard, but I suppose that page gets even less attention. Is the Village pump and similar pages the main forum for feedback and enquiries (hoping that somebody opens a bug if relevant)? –LPfi (talk) 15:43, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@LPfi: this page is a joke. At least three years ago it was already discussed whether people should still be led to this dead page by uploadwizard: Commons:Upload_Wizard_feedback/Archive/2019/04#short_descriptions, but they still kept the link and made no attempt to visit this page often.
WMF is a joke. With all that money they have they cant handle a simple thing like this properly. Roy17 (talk) 12:08, 27 March 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Seems so. Perhaps Phabricator is the way to go, but you cannot just log in with your "Commons" username (as stated at the page head). You need to give Phabricator access to your account. The wording on what this entails is incomprehensible and there is no link to a proper description.
So somebody with a Phabricator account shoud start a bug report on Upload Wizard asking for feedback that is never handled (and another on the description on how to enable Phabricator logins, and perhaps a third on Talk:Upload Wizard not being monitored be maintainers).

For starters, I've tried to update the header a bit to reflect reality. El Grafo (talk) 13:49, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category:Category[edit]

Either document that the field wants you not to include "Category:", or do some clever preprocessing that removes such a prefix. Or both. Mysha (talk) Mysha (talk) 13:09, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
